West Bengal
The Story
West Bengal is the only state in India where a separate department has been set up to protect the interest of the consumer at large. But with this serious effort and honest intention of the Government, sufficient interest has not been generated among the general public on consumer rights and redress mechanisms be it in rural or urban areas. People are still indifferent to their rights, both consciously and subconsciously and it was felt that this indifference was due to the lack of awareness which could be triggered through effective and catchy material.
Hijli INSPIRATION partnered with the Ministry of Consumer Affairs, Govt. of India and subsequently the Department of Consumer Affairs , Govt. of West Bengal to generate publicity material that would be interesting and acceptable to the people at large in rural and urban areas and also conduct programmes which would cover a large section of the stakeholders particularly to actively involve them in the process of attitudinal and behaviour reorientation.
The programme deliverable was at two levels – development of communication material and implementation of awareness programmes.
